Politics and Your Paycheque

"We're unique, as public workers," CUPE Saskatchewan President Tom Graham told delegates at the 2007 Solidarity Conference in October. "We have a saying in our union: We get to elect our own bosses."

Politics affects your wages and working conditions like vacation time, hours of work and health and safety laws. Politics also controls the health and education services you rely on to take care of your family. As your elected leaders, it's our job to ensure you have all the facts on which party will work for working people. That's why your union is talking about politics.

We have crown corporations that provide us with revenue for the province, and the lowest costs for utilities like car insurance. We have not-for-profit health care that takes care of you and your family. We have a stable, growing economy, and we're a "have" province for the first time in decades.

Don't gamble with our province, and don't waste our democracy by wasting your vote.
