All Sask. Locals: Strategic Planning Session Needs Your Attendance
[Jun 15, 2010 10:56 AM]
As all local leadership in Saskatchewan is likely aware, Saskatchewan's unions have come up against several large challenges in recent years.
Pieces of legisation have damaged our ability to best represent our membership; the provincial finances have fallen from a surplus position in 2007 to two consecutive deficit budgets and resulted in cutbacks and challenges for public sector workers at the bargaining table; at least one large employer is taking advantage of legislative changes to demand major concessions from the workforce.
At a May 4, 2010 All-Presidents' meeting, it was determined that a comprehensive strategy for addressing these issues must be developed to inform and engage our membership as well as to design a fight back strategy for regaining our rights.
All local leaders and activists are invited to attend a two-day information workshop, in which all who attend can fully participate in discussions, decisions and action planning.
Locals are asked to send as many members as possible. There is a small registration fee to help defray costs.
Because the participation of all locals is crucial in this strategic planning session, CUPE Saskatchewan will offer support to small locals to cover all costs associated with attending this meeting (this support is unrelated to the Small Local Assistance Fund).
For more information, please contact CUPE Saskatchewan at (306) 757-1009.
A registration form is attached.
